Prostate Health through Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine

from birth to young adulthood, the prostate grows from about the size of peas, about the size of a walnut. Most men experience prostate growth in the second period in the mid to late 40's. At this point, cells in the central part of the gland - where the prostate surrounds the urethra - begin to reproduce faster. As tissues in the area increased, often compress the urethra and partially block urine flow. Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is the medical term for this condition. It should be noted that the prostate can also become enlarged due to bacterial infection, a term used for this condition is acute or chronic bacterial prostatitis. There is another form of non-bacterial chronic prostatitis, which is actually more common than its counterpart, the reason for this is unknown.

prostate enlargement affects about half the males in their 60's and up to 90 percent of men in their 70s and 80s.Prisutnost or absence of prostate enlargement is not associated with the development of prostate cancer.
