Oranges and Water at Half Time For Kid's Exercise?



Fitness for children has become a serious business both on and off the field. It's one thing for children exercises to be taken to the next level, but we provide the child with the most nutritious foods? What happened to potable water and freshly cut oranges at halftime sports games for kids?

It is so unfortunate today to observe the lack of follow through with many sports organizations. It's one thing to create a team, but the sport is not just about performance on the field, it's about supporting your child as a whole. There is learning how to win or lose gracefully, it is a sport more than just physical, it is mental / emotional components and important health aspect - what foods and beverages, children should be consuming to maintain a healthy weight, have lots of energy, and be able to think clearly .

lack of nutritional support for the players is evident in more ways than one. Clubs often need to raise funds and resorting to chocolate fundraisers-also seen in schools as the only really funny. Both schools and sports clubs should be looking to teach children about health, not sabotage the efforts of parents to raise children who are fit and healthy. Especially with the current statistics glaring us in the face of American-35% and 25% of Australian children are now overweight or obese.

Gone are the oranges that we use to our kids at halftime. Replaced with lollies (candy)! Why? They need the energy boost. So giving them lollies will give them a boost of energy for about ten minutes, if you're lucky. Then your energy will plummet to levels below the levels before consumption.
