Primary Health Center ( Issues , Strength and Scope)

Primary Health Care (PHC), the strategy has proved to be a milestone in the history of health policy. PHC is defined as "essential health care based on practical, scientifically sound and socially acceptable methods and technology is universally available to individuals and families in the community through their full participation and at a price that community and country can afford to maintain at every stage of development in the spirit of self-confidence and self determination. "PHC is expected to be an integral part of the national health system, of which the central function and main focus, as well as the overall social and economic development community. That would be the first degree of contact of individuals, families and communities with the national health system, allowing health care as close as possible to where people work and live, and make the first element of continuing health care

care.

PHC comprises eight elements:

in education about prevailing health problems and methods to prevent and control them, the

in the promotion of food supply and proper nutrition,

in an adequate supply of safe water and basic sanitation,

in maternal and child health care, including family planning,

in vaccination against major infectious diseases,

in the prevention and control of locally endemic diseases,

in the appropriate treatment of common diseases and injuries, and

in the provision of essential drugs.

ideology and principles behind PHC closely to what was and has been advocated in human development, such as social justice, equity, human rights, universal access to services, giving priority to vulnerable and poor, and community involvement. It is acknowledged that the promotion and protection of human health is essential for sustainable economic and social development and contributes to a better quality of life and peace in the world. These priorities PHC as the main strategy for achieving health for all. Despite this commitment, and several years of work, not much has been achieved.

is necessary to examine the implementation of primary health care and identify strategic interventions needed to cope with new challenges in the health care system, as a contribution to the development of programs to strengthen PHC in the 21st century.

May the key issues that need to be reviewed / addressed for strengthening PHC are:

in PHC policy formulation: As the PHC policy formulated? What is the process of formulating PHC policy, PHC content policies, etc.
