then we took him in the general hospital, where he saw some mental health doctors diagnosed as having a mental illness. He was admitted and kept in the hospital a week.

This began an enormous change in my life

As you can imagine I have never cried so much in my life and through this week. As a parent of a much loved son, was all too much to comprehend. It is frightening to say the least. This is a time of complete desolation, especially if you do not know anything about mental illness and its consequences.

Fortunately, by listening to the many caregivers over the years it seems that life becomes bearable with time as a caregiver learns from every experience and encourages strategies to help with coping.
